Where is the Sahara Desert?

Sahara is located in the north of the African continent and covers 11 countries: Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Mali, Niger, Saharan Arab Democratic Republic, Sudan and Tunisia. Therefore, its territorial extension is very wide: 9,200,000 square kilometers. It is a slightly smaller territory than China, measuring 9,596,961 km². However, the desert’s size is not permanent.
